3 tips from our dermatologist to make your tan last longer

Dr. Sylvie Peres: "The softer the tan, the more even and long-lasting it will be. It is absolutely essential to avoid unpleasant, unsightly sunburn, which is a major cause of cancer, particularly melanoma. The ideal is to gently prepare the skin through gradual exposure. Prefer early morning or evening exposure, gradually lengthen the duration, then cover up, apply SPF 50+ sunscreen to exposed areas."

1 - Prepare your skin well for the sun

To "sunbathe" properly, you must start exposure with perfectly hydrated skin, maintained by regular peels and scrubs because a thick horny layer protects against UV rays.

Fruit acid peels help combat hyperkeratinization by removing the surface layers of the skin. It can be applied twice a week, in the evening, even in summer. It also helps prevent acne from recurring after the summer.

On the body, apply the All Apricot Scrub to remove dead skin.

2 - Adopt a diet rich in antioxidants, beta-carotene and omegas

Antioxidants :

They are essential for fighting the action of free radicals. However, with age, the body's antioxidant defense system weakens, allowing free radicals to multiply at will. When the body is overwhelmed by their numbers and can no longer fight them, it finds itself in a state of oxidative stress. Free radicals then spread rapidly to neighboring molecules, triggering a process called oxidation. Excess free radicals not eliminated by organic incapacity are toxic to the body and harmful to health. Our body needs antioxidants to regenerate and to fight against many factors, including natural aging.

Omegas :

Those that boost hydration, the right cocktail of omega 3, 6, and 9. Each vegetable oil has a unique composition that combines varying levels of fatty acids with other so-called minor components, but whose role is not negligible! We will choose organic and cold-pressed to preserve their benefits. We will combine them according to the desired goals (anti-inflammatory, hydration, etc.)

Beta-carotene:

Beta-carotene, sometimes called provitamin A, refers to the most common form of carotene, an orange-colored pigment found in certain plants (especially carrots ) and synthesized into vitamin A by the liver when the body needs it. Beta-carotene is also used as a food additive and coloring agent, and has antioxidant and anticancer properties. It is also believed that it may have an effect on slowing cognitive decline over a long period of time.

Carrot, sweet potato, pumpkin, lettuce, melon, apricot, peas, but also: kohlrabi, kale, spinach, dandelion, chard, lamb's lettuce, watercress, parsley, chives, red pepper, shallots, passion fruit juice, cherry, grapefruit, arugula.

3 - Have well-hydrated skin

It is important for the quality of the skin but also for a lasting tan. Complementary to exfoliation, we take advantage of the holidays to pamper our skin, we bring it biodiversity, we vary the textures. When returning from the beach depending on the mood we apply a scented oil which penetrates quickly like the nourishing oil . Multi-function, it is applied to the face, body and hair and thanks to its richness in carotenoids it stimulates the tan. We alternate with a nourishing balm which we will massage to activate the microcirculation. We choose it with fruit acids or others to give radiance.

Does a cream with SPF 50 prevent tanning?

Dr. Sylvie Peres: "No. The high protection factor SPF50 prevents sunburn! The gentler and more controlled the sun exposure, the longer and more even the tan will be." Discover our tinted cream SPF50+
