Alaia Peres, co-founder of Spa Alaena Paris

Can you introduce yourself?

I was born and raised in Biarritz, where the ocean and nature were an integral part of my daily life. I then moved to Paris for my studies. I took a preparatory class and then joined the HEC Paris business school, where I quickly turned to entrepreneurship. During my gap years, I spent a year and a half in Australia. I was happy to be back close to the ocean, and I was able to flourish in my work by launching a startup in education. When it was time to return to France to finish my schooling and pursue a master's degree in entrepreneurship, I thought about what I wanted to do. I wanted to launch a new project, closer to my passions, my values, and of course, my family.

Can you tell us about Maison Alaena?

The Alaena house is a place to live far from the hustle and bustle, a suspended haven to disconnect without leaving the city. We were committed to combining the kindness and gentleness of intimate hospitality with medical expertise to allow everyone to find lasting well-being. It's a confidential place, where you can come (re)discover a little of yourself with a yoga class, an expert consultation, a facial treatment, a massage, or a cup of tea to sweep away the most beautiful view of the rooftops of Paris. We forget the little worries and the daily ticking. We change universes, we lay down our arms. The noises have disappeared. We can breathe. Finally.

The Alaena House

What excites you most about this project?

I would say that it is both the desire or the perhaps somewhat utopian dream of bringing happiness to each person who comes to see us and the passion to create something concrete. I like to think that my work will have an impact, that it will allow the people around me to feel better, to let go and to flourish. On a daily basis, it is exciting to open a place. You have to think about every little detail, try to tell a story through objects, smells, sounds and constantly reinvent yourself, create surprise. It is a project that allows me to meet beautiful, passionate people and I hope to be able to contribute to highlighting their know-how.

You are joining the family adventure, what does that mean to you?

I am the youngest in the family, I followed the launch of Spa Alaena and Alaena Cosmétique with great admiration for my sisters and my parents. Today it is a pride to join this adventure and contribute to the writing of our story. I like the idea that we are building something lasting together, as close as possible to our values. It is also the opportunity to share more things, to discover new facets of their personality and to continue to grow alongside them.

What inspires you on a daily basis?

Our mother taught us to observe, to marvel at nature, and to remain curious about the world around us. I try to follow these precepts, to let myself be surprised and guided by my environment: nature, reading, encounters, everything we see, what we touch, or what we hear...

How do you take care of yourself?

I try to take advantage of every opportunity to escape and get some fresh air. When I'm on the Basque Coast, there's the ocean, surfing, and mountains. In Paris, it's a little more complicated, but running and yoga allow me to clear my head.

And now there is Maison Alaena and from here the city is much less stifling! Micronutrition has helped me a lot lately. I have always been careful about what I eat but almost too much and I have developed many deficiencies. I have learned to eat better, I take appropriate food supplements and little by little, I am finding my balance again. For cosmetics, I have a fairly simple daily routine. I use the combination skin moisturizer , the mango avocado soap and the nourishing hair oil . On Sunday evening, I like to take the time to do a peel and apply the body balm . I immediately see the effect on my skin and all perfumed, I feel ready for a new week. I have learned to find the little things I need to feel good, I believe that the main thing is to take time for yourself, not to forget yourself and to learn to listen to yourself. But I am not always exemplary!
