How did the desire to create Tone come about?
The world of wellness can be very elitist, and I wanted to have a project that would provide easy access to information and products, and encourage people to take care of themselves. |
The concept came naturally because many of my friends ask me where my yoga and sports outfits come from, then I no longer wanted to buy my supplements/vitamins at the pharmacy, I immediately thought of an online destination where there would be all that, an experience that would make me dream, that would make me want to learn even more about well-being. It was obvious that I had to try to create this online destination.
Why did you choose this name?
Tone means "strengthen" in English, with an emphasis on the physical side, strengthening your muscles, but I also extrapolate that to the mental side.
Strengthen yourself mentally and physically.
The tagline says it: Tone, Mind & Body
Then Tone also means "tonalities" "tones", it refers to all the diversity of tones that exist. To the fact that each person is unique, and does not need to compare themselves, to do the same as another.
Everyone has their own definition of well-being, and that's fine.
3 tips for someone who wants to start a business?
Don't be discouraged.
Believe in it deeply (I used visualization exercises, and a lot of meditation)
And jump in even if it's not as perfect as you wanted! That's what I do when I'm scared, I jump in quickly.
Who plays “Tone”?
Anyone who wants to take care of themselves, physically and mentally.
He is an open-minded person, open to other approaches to health, whether they come from near or far.
A person who shares and finds energy in this community.
It's broad, because I'm trying to make Tone an inclusive concept.
What are your criteria for selecting a brand ?
I absolutely wanted to give Tone a responsible dimension. We can't compromise, especially when it comes to beauty and health.
It is therefore a group of brands concerned with using natural products, organic when possible, producing reasonably, and finding suppliers who are like them.
I was also keen to exchange ideas with brands, with whom to create synergies, real connections, because it makes sense for the wellness community.
There are a majority of brands run by women, and I'm happy to highlight that as well. I also hope to connect with companies run by people from underrepresented groups.
And I'm so proud of the offerings on Tone. Starting with Alaena, a relationship that has lasted over the years, a collaboration where I think we learn from each other.
What advice would you give to someone who wants to start yoga?
It's an investment for life, I was even more motivated in my practice by realizing that people who have practiced all their lives reach an advanced age with exceptional physical condition, flexibility, and also magnificent skin. Above all, I would tell them not to compare themselves to others, because everyone has their own practice, and our body allows us to evolve extremely quickly.
It's a moment for both the body and the mind, go for it, it will never be for nothing.

What place does beauty have in your life?
I associate beauty a lot with taking care of yourself, which became essential for me after some personal challenges.
I learned a lot from Alaena, who really demonstrates pedagogy on the subject, and who makes the subject simple and accessible.
I'm still learning every day, I'm questioning a lot of things, especially the vocabulary we use (me first), for example "beautiful skin" think about what that includes, imperfections don't make the skin less beautiful. The skin reflects everything a person can experience in their daily life (whether it's slightly disturbed hormones, a stressful lifestyle, not having had time to eat well, etc.).
Beauty rituals allow us to return to calm, to do something for ourselves, and this has an impact on our mental state at that moment.

What are your Alaena favorites?
Double cleanse, then moisturize.
And when I'm at home in a quiet moment, peeling or hydrating mask.
And especially sunscreen ! Thank you Alaena for finally opening my eyes to the subject, because mixed-race skin isn't always aware that it's relevant to them.
A simple and quick ritual that fits perfectly into my lifestyle, between sports, surfing, yoga, and dozens of professional projects, entrepreneurship, freelance marketing, photoshoots...
