A dermatologist for over 25 years on the Basque coast and the creator of all the formulas in the Alaena range, Sylvie Peres reveals her summer suitcase.
What products do you always take with you?
Dr. Sylvie Peres: I'm just packing my bags! My essentials: Mango & Avocado soap , SPF 50 sunscreen , sensitive skin cream and eye cream.
For the body, I take my rose petal oil and since I don't know how to choose, a little bit of garden radiance balm and apricot scrub in a pot to take the plane without any problem!
How do you take care of your skin in summer?
Dr. Sylvie Peres: The key word: PROTECT it from the sun! If you were given a beautiful bouquet of roses, would you put it in direct sunlight?
So I'm packing in my suitcase: a nice little 2mm neoprene wetsuit that protects your neck, neckline, and arms for water sports.
Several hats and caps, sunglasses and even a light mask or a bandana for the face, to be adapted to all situations / dressed, sports, wind…
For the body, light leggings or a pareo.
When I swim, I sunbathe for 15 minutes and then cover up or seek shade. You should know that 10% of the sun gives a nice color and the following 90% dries out and ages your skin.
Where will you be staying this summer?
Dr. Sylvie Peres: In a wild, unspoiled spot by the ocean. In a house with our three daughters, their partners, and our little twins: All together at last, a dream come true!
What is your latest crush?
Dr. Sylvie Peres: Since I read the work of neurobiologist Antoine Lutz which shows that the Buddhist monk Matthieu Ricard who practices meditation has the brain of a person 15 years younger, I want to improve my practice, reduce the background noise of my thoughts, forget the voice that always says more, always better, to get closer to what is essential for me and rejuvenate my neurons.
