Camille Jaillant, founder of the sustainable luxury brand Olistic

Can you introduce yourself and tell us about your background?

I grew up surrounded by the Swiss mountains and Haussmannian monuments. Inspired by both the elegance of Paris and the nature of Geneva, I have always loved to travel, take risks, push boundaries, and seek out innovation and boldness.

When I launched Olistic in 2019, I was part of a small community of sustainable fashion thinkers. Today, the movement has grown, but truly committed players remain a minority in the industry.

Before starting my studies at Edhec Business School, I took fashion design courses with an independent designer in Lille. I then worked in production/product management in Paris and New York for prestigious brands such as Chloé, Louis Vuitton, Prada, and Isabel Marant.

I continued my studies in Australia, with a master's degree in Melbourne at RMIT specializing in fashion entrepreneurship, where my thesis focused on natural fibers and dyes. An eternal traveler, I regularly set off to discover different cultures, particularly in India and Australia.

Tell us about this passion for fashion, where does it come from?

My passion for fashion began with my grandmother, a seamstress for major luxury brands.

I grew up around fabrics, buttons, thread and needles.

My first memory is during summer vacations at my grandmother's house, we would go shopping for fabrics together, and we would create clothes for my dolls. What I really appreciated as a child was that anything was possible, a creative idea could materialize quickly with research and work.

I felt infinite freedom. I quickly developed a taste for choosing materials and colors, and refining my style. At the age of 7, I loved creating my own outfits.

How did the OLISTIC adventure begin?

I've always wanted to work in fashion since I was a child; it's always fascinated me. I've always had a strong passion for creation that I've always wanted to nurture.

I worked for luxury brands such as Prada, Louis Vuitton, Chloé, and Isabel Marant, where I learned a lot. After these experiences, I realized that my vision of fashion was different.

I felt the need to make an impact, to do something meaningful. To prove that fashion could be sustainable and desirable. That there was a real demand/niche in the fashion world where no brand was meeting its needs. A 100% natural, organic, handmade, and locally produced fashion product.

A brand that values people and respects the environment.

I didn't hesitate to take the plunge because I felt that the values of current fashion no longer suited me. For me, the true definition of luxury is slow fashion with a strong story.

Being Olistic means adopting a responsible lifestyle where trust, passion, and respect are at the heart of humanity. It also means being transparent in all the decisions we make. My team and I continually challenge ourselves, and everyone around us, to push current boundaries in order to create luxury products in a sustainable and ethical manner, respectful of the world and its inhabitants.

Your brand goes beyond fashion, tell us about its philosophy.

Inspired by the adjective “holistic,” Olistic the Label suggests a totality, a life cycle where human beings are in harmony with their environment. I really wanted this to be felt in the products but also in the communication, in order to inspire humans to reconnect with the earth.

Inspired by biomimicry, Olistic offers a new, committed definition of the feminine wardrobe, combining minimalist, timeless silhouettes with a contemporary touch. Light and airy, the chiffon tops, skirts, and dresses sensually caress the skin, while the palette of natural hues recalls the organic roots of our collections. The fluid, loose cuts promote comfort and freedom of movement with elegance.

The brand also mixes Fashion & Art: I really like collaborating with artists, painters, for example for the latest SS24 collection inspired by the Japanese art of Ikebana.

Wearing an Olistic piece means feeling in tune with your values, giving meaning to clothing by supporting craftsmanship and organic farming.

You are the curator of the Roches Blanches boutique in Cassis this summer. How did you make your selection of brands?

I would like to share my passion for beauty, a “slow” and “raw” fashion, a return to the earth, to the essential.
I would also like to convey the return to French fashion, where it is possible to produce locally in France, or in neighboring countries (Portugal, Italy) with talented and passionate artisans. A true return to craftsmanship and handmade products, which are sorely lost in the fashion industry today.

Through the Roches Blanches boutique, I wanted to offer sustainable luxury products that complement the Olistic brand's organic wardrobe. The brands I selected are fully aligned with Olistic, both in terms of DNA and commitment: Sustainability, Quality, Traceability.

Each with its own strong story, the partner brands are committed to respecting the environment and preserving handmade craftsmanship.

I really appreciate ALAENA products and the brand's universe, especially with the superb spa in Biarritz. ALAENA products correspond exactly to what I wanted in the Roches Blanches boutique: easy-to-use, effective treatments that are pleasant to the nose and touch.

What place does beauty have in your life?

I use very few cosmetics, but the products I do use are often oils, creams, scrubs, and masks that are as natural as possible. I like neutral products that aren't too perfumed. For me, beauty is a ritual every morning to do yourself good from the outside as well as the inside. Beauty is also taking the time to do treatments, to relax the body and face, because beauty is often linked to our daily rhythm.

A childhood memory linked to a perfume, a transmission of beauty?

I think it's the organic oils of Rose, Neroli, or Macadamia, my mother used a lot of oils on her face and body before bed. There is also something meditative about oils linked to relaxation.

I still appreciate its pure scent and the feel of the oil on my skin today. It's a ritual I now borrow from my mother because it's a great way to moisturize my skin before bed.

What are your Alaena favorites?

I love using the Rose Petal Treatment Oil after sunny days to deeply moisturize my skin and hair. It's easy to use and smells divine! The Fruit Acid Peel is also one of my favorites because it leaves my skin soft and smooth. For maximum hydration, I opt for the Intense Hydration Mask for a summer glow.
